Test Championship reckoning- Who will win the title?
India have beaten England at home to reach the final of the World Test Championship England and Australia had a chance to reach the final but India made it random at the last minute.
India and New Zealand will meet in the final of the World Test Championship. The final is scheduled to be held in England from June 10 to June 14 this year. Since this is a Test match, there is a way to draw.
So, what if the final game of the World Test Championship is a draw or a tie? Such a question may come.
According to ICC rules, if the game is drawn or tied, both teams will be declared joint champions. Then India captain Virat Kohli and New Zealand captain Kane Williamson will win the title together.
If the game is stopped due to rain or any other reason, the game will be played on an extra day i.e. ‘Reserve Day’ has been kept. However, the question of playing extra days will come up only if it is not possible to play a total of 30 hours in 5 days instead of 6 hours per day.
If the amount that will not be played within a certain 90 overs or 6 hours per day can be done on that day, then there will be no question of extra days. Suppose, on the third day of the game, 5 overs were lost due to rain. If the extra time is played on the second day of those 5 overs, no more extra days will be played. But if a whole day is wasted in the rain and only 5 overs can be bowled in the following days, then extra days will be played.
